New award + a treat

Nominations are one of the things I enjoy in wordpress, they always place me in a good mood. That’s why today I am going to share extra – spoil free – information about my series, since we are a week away from releasing my free spin off short novel online.
But first, I will post my greatest thanks and nominations to those who I am glad they exist on wordpress.
My greatest gratitude for my fellow blogger, Tanseem from South Africa. You made my day.

Here are the rules:

1. Display the award logo on your blog.
2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
3. Nominate others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family. (I didn’t specify any number, just go with those you feel deserve it.)
4. Let your Family members know you have awarded them
5. Post 7 (interesting) things about yourself.

Break the rules and something bad will happen in ten days. 🙂

1- Kelsy Ketch, a writer with an interesting upcoming novel and an avid reader with great thirst for stories.
2- Margaret Alexander, the author of the Apocalypse Exalted series and one of the best supporters of authors world wide. (Here’s my review of her novel on Goodreads)
3- Alexandra, A student on her way through life, she is walking positively and sharing her inspirational bits as she goes along.
4- Indira, her poetry are made from hard words that easily penetrate your soul.
5- Shanon, An author from the age of 16, with a new promising Young Adult novel (Minutes Before Sunset)
6- Paula Acton, Not only she is a fun blogger, but outside wordpress she is one of the kindest human beings, right now she is helping in the Hospice fundraiser, I have sent five signed copies of my book there, I am glad to see them being used in a good cause.
7- Yi Ching Lin: One of my favorite photographers, I enjoy seing the world through her eyes.

I chose the previous bloggers because I have been busy with my novels and I didn’t have enough time to check on the people I follow, only those magnificent 7 made the cut.

Interesting facts about me:-
1- Though I am not overweight, I have a slow metabolism, which is why everything in my fridge is either brown or pink in color (i.e. Diet food is my normal food).
2- My best way in dealing with anger is through jogging.
3- I started the insanity training program, which is so hard you need to be fit before you start it.
4- I always think of my stories, everyone looks at me and ask ‘Is everything alright?’ thinking that maybe I am depressed (I don’t blame them, I am a dentist after all)
5- One of the sports I like to learn is Parkour.
6- I am watching the Muppets at the moment.
7- Later I am going to play at a table tennis family tournament.

Stay tuned for my next post, where you will learn about Two of my characters, Sara and Emma.

11 weird questions answered… who to tag next?

One of my favorite bloggers had tagged me with 11 questions. I loved the idea since most of the questions I had were more or less serious. So it is refreshing to have weird and unfamiliar questions you may ask a friend with. So I hope you’ll enjoy learning more about my personality. But first, I’d like to thank Margaret for tagging me, and I wish her great success in her new novel, Shadows Of Penumbra. I have it already but I’m still catching up with my reading… can’t wait to start your series.

Here are the questions and here’s what I have to say for each:-

1. What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten in public?

Sheep’s brain . I was on vacation and I felt very adventurous.

How did it taste, you say? Well, you are going to have your own adventures to find out.

2. If you had to go on an adventure, with elves, dwarves, or hobbits, who would you take and why?

Elves… Because I need everyone to be able to keep up with me. 🙂

3. You are at a rural retreat lodge somewhere deep in Wisconsin or Canada. You are approached by a taxidermist who hands you a stuffed badger and asks you to put it in your lap. What do you do next?

I stay still until (somehow) he becomes convinced that I’m a stuffed human being. But I’m afraid that if he likes what he sees he’ll upgrade from animal to humans.

4. If you were given biscotti, would you prefer it with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

I would prefer tea. Ever since I was aware of the world I have it with tea.

5. In your opinion, who is the funniest man or woman alive today (comedian)

As a comedian actor, I say Will Ferrell. But as a standup comedy I will easily say Russell Peters. Here’s one of his bits where he talks about Arabian stereotype stories.

6. If you were given thirty seconds on television to say something, what would it be?

Attention earth. This is lord Laminar from Mars. Our death ray have been shot from the moon and it will take 30 seconds before it reaches planet earth. If I were you, I would find something to say within these 30 seconds.

Live short and decline

7. What is your idea of the most romantic date setting ever?

Two travelers who meet, talk and decides to spend their times together… Hopefully forever comes later.

Before Sunset (2004)

8. If you could go on one date with a movie or television star, who would it be and why?

My favorite actress who I would be honored to have a Cinderella night with her would be Audrey Tautou. She portrayed two memorable characters and was in my favorite movie of all time… A very long engagement.

She is elegant with a smile that can force ice to melt… Her being very beautiful didn’t affect my decision… (Cough, cough, clear throat).

9. What is the worst song you have ever heard?

I don’t know the name nor the language, but I heard it on my way to the airport. Nothing rhymes, the guy was talking and not singing, they used a horse in the music, it was too long to bear and the driver couldn’t turn it off because the car radio was busted. I didn’t want to let him lose a customer so I kept listening. The world didn’t mean anything to me until I got out.

10. If you could live anywhere else, where would it be?

Anywhere near the beach. I sometimes imagine myself retiring and moving to Malaysia.

11. Who- in your opinion- was the greatest person to ever live?

My oldest brother. I have read about all the prophets and the saints. But to know someone in person who is in that league is something else. I feel blessed to have known him.

Now here are the 11 readers who I’d like to see how well they’ll do with these questions.

A new award for my blog…

Jim Wright, a fellow author, a blogger and a man who shares the same passion I have for history has nominated me for the Liebster Award, as you can see, we both have many things in common, so why not share the same award dedicated for our blogs? Thank you my friend! I really appreciate your kind gesture.

– Now, before we roll the red carpet, let’s discuss the rules:

  • When you receive the award, you post 11 random facts about yourself and answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you.

  • Pass the award onto 11 other blogs (while making sure you notify the blogger that you nominated them!)

  • You write up 11 NEW questions directed towards YOUR nominees.

  • You are not allowed to nominate the blog who nominated your own blog!

  • You paste the award picture into your blog. (You can Google the image, there are plenty of them!)

So as you can see, today you’ll learn 22 things about me, have fun everyone:-

11 random facts about Moi:-

1. I was a real big trouble maker when I was a kid and I placed myself in so many predicaments because of that… which explains why I’m not bad anymore.

2. My favorite color is white because, like me, it is a reflection of all the other colors.

3. One of the things I’m proud of is the fact that I was born before my time and when I was delivered I didn’t cry… that’s how they tell me it happened.

4. When I was a kid they hid the fact that I was originally from Iraq, when I found out at the age of 9, I cried because my image of Iraq is Sadam, but it opened my mind and made me realize we are not passports, we are human.

5. If I want to be honest with myself, I’d say I want to accomplish in my life more than I want to get married. But who knows, maybe someone will bewitch me someday.

6. I have a half brother who, not since the last two years, I only see 3 days a year because our vacations never fit, the closest I have ever felt to him was when he called me from Australia after he read my book. He told me ‘I’m proud that the one who wrote this book is my young brother’. He lives where we live now with his wife and adorable kids.

7. Kids used to bully me when I was a kid myself. I don’t know if it was because I was getting high scores or it was because I used to be in the school music band, but once I looked at an old picture of mine and I though ‘I deserved it’.

8. My favorite pet is a cat, I like all pets, but a cat’s curiosity is a good show to watch.

9. I LOVE video games, the ones with a good story in them. I believe they are right now the best form of story telling because you can interact and decide the outcomes. And the soundtrack is always amazing.

10. I love playing football (sorry Americans for the confusion, I meant soccer) and I really like watching matches.

11. My biggest dream is becoming a director and a screen writer… which hopefully will be my next step once I know how to approach that dream.

My thanks to the bride to be, Natasha, for her kind nomination and appreciation for my blog. She began her journey as a bridal blogger, only to realize that she is more.
