cover

‘Good and Evil has no passport; it wears many skins, speaks in different tongues, and exists everywhere, even in the same person’

~ Psychs

Here’s the new, modified and marked with reviews cover of my fiction thriller. The soft cover edition will soon be available next month on all major online stores and in bookstores.

The new cover is not the only recent addition to the book. This time, you’ll get to have a sneak peek at the second chapter in the Psych series, The Remnant, Book 2 in the series. You’ll get to take a short dive inside the prologue and the first chapter, I hope you’ll be able to hold your breath that long.

There’s also an interview of me at Managua Gunn’s Pirate Haven in the end, you’ll get to know more about me, my work and my thoughts on writing and writers.

Here’s to 2013, may it be the best next step for the series.

Great news…

Well, it’s finally on track now.

My fiction thriller got the good acknowledgment that I was seeking by releasing the E-Book edition first. As we know, when you enter a bookstore what attracts you to the book is the reviews written on them, having the word of mouth can really help the reader to get some idea about that book from someone other than the author.

Psychs have received so far only positive reviews from Kirkus, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Authors, Bloggers and goodreads.com. So now comes the second step for the Psych series, the new paperback edition which is now marked with reviews.

2012 was a very productive year for my thriller, and now I’m starting 2013 with a bang.

Soon, perhaps later today, I will be able to share the new soft cover for Psychs.

So, until then, you can visit my website and learn more about my thriller, you can also get linked from there so you can get to read the full reviews.

The world did not end, and so did not my thriller…

My thriller, Psychs, have been released by my new publisher in e-book format. The reason why I started that way was simple, whenever you go to a bookstore two things a book can capture you with, first the cover… check (Top Ten Book Covers Of The Year 2012), the second thing is what it says on that cover itself, i.e. Reviews.

fb2

This year was a blessing for me, I can’t see the humor in the Mayan’s joke about the end of the world. My book have received positive reviews so far, I even created a new page on my website for those reviews too, from a literary magazine, from authors, from customers and from bloggers. Now, those reviews should be where it belong, on and inside the book.

So that’s why I decided to announce that my thriller, Psychs, will be soon available in Paperback format on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and many other online sellers. And with the new cover smeared with reviews on it, it will be available and more noticeable in bookstores too.

I am standing on the threshold of the next year’s door, and leaving 2012 with good memories and the sense of accomplishments, even though they were little, because the important thing is, I’m moving forward and away from my starting point.

I’ll be revealing more from my book, so next time, be prepared, because I will be revealing some new stuff about my characters and my thriller that, in a way, I have never revealed before. Until then, enjoy your last week of 2012, and have a great holiday.

A friend I haven’t seen for a while is now a fan…

I felt my pocket vibrate yesterday, it was my i-phone receiving a message from a strange number which turned out to be a dear friend of mine, a friend who read my book and liked it so much that he decided to do this little prank with me before he let me know who he was.

Those who read my story will understand what the conversation means.

Well… we can’t win them all…

I don’t want to be the kind of author who only shares the good reviews now would I? It’s actually a bad thing to conceal what other readers think of your work because obviously we live in a world where every brain is blessed with its own taste buds, but mostly I think it’s bad not to share unappealing reviews because other authors who are new and on their way to have themselves published have to prepare themselves through us, so they can know that it’s not always a 5 star ride.

The thing I didn’t like about his review that he mostly talked about what bothered him about the book even though he said he enjoyed it, but what can I say… we can’t win them all.

Click to visit the review

He didn’t like my style, you see, to have the book placed on a steady pace I used flashbacks instead of representing the story in the right chronological order and to make them appear separate I presented the flashbacks in first person while the main course was presented in third person, he found that confusing. Also, and I’m with him with that, there are some grammatical errors that skipped my editor which was something I hated and will avoid with the new paperback edition which will be released in the coming months.

The other thing was the Ghosts… you see, it’s a fast pace thriller and they act, switch places according to the situation and so on… he got lost while trying to keep up with each Ghost. I don’t blame him, I myself had to work hard to make sure that I don’t misplace or mistake one ghost’s location with the other.

All in all, he enjoyed the book, but he gave more account about what he found unappealing in his review.

Psychs – A. H. Amin, Author

Love this review of my thriller

Psychs – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat; Think With Your Taste Buds; A Book and A Dish

My parents are leaving in an hour for a visit and my little sister always sleeps late during vacations, I couldn’t wait anymore for them to leave. I looked at the spirits surrounding me and said. ‘Let’s talk’ I said, then closed my room’s door. ‘My name is Hassan what’s yours?’ They replied in turns. ‘Mine is Joseph.’ ‘Rodriquez, call me Rod’ Rod gave a wink. ‘Steven Chow.’ ‘Markus Reed, at your service.’ Mark took a bow and pointed at the female ghost to follow. ‘Nice to meet you Hassan, my name is Emma’, she smiled and waved. ‘Sorry for scaring you’ Emma said. ‘It’s ok’ I replied, then my eyes went to the one next in line. ‘Jack.’ ‘Mason.’ The last one to be introduced was a…

My thriller, ‘Psychs’ will be on display at the Tucson Festival of Books

I just agreed with my publisher to make my novel ‘Psychs’ present at the fourth largest book festival in the United States, the Tucson Festival of Books. It will surely be a big thing for my novel since it will be viewed in front of more than 100,000 readers. It will be held on the campus of the University of Arizona for two days, 9-10th of March 2013. So many things to do, first I’ll celebrate, and then I will mostly be sharing more about my novel from time to time, especially since there are more good news coming on the way, like I can’t wait to share the Kirkus review once it’s posted. But until then, here are some links of authors, customer and bloggers reviews of ‘Psychs

A Book and A Dish…

I should explain…

Yes that’s me, and I’m holding what I tried to cook for the first time… I also categorized this post as book review. So what’s happening?

Simple, I received an e-mail from author Martha A. Cheves, the author of ‘A Book and a Dish‘ , ‘Think With Your Taste Buds: Desserts‘ and ‘Stir, Laugh, Repeat‘. Every week she posts one of her recipes and a book review. So guess which book made it to her list?? Yes, mine.

She chose (QUINOA PILAF) as the right dish for this book, branding it as a (Hassan special)… For those who are new to my fiction thriller, Hassan is the name of my main character. It is also the name of my older brother who I created the character in his honor (Read here: A tribute to my hero, my brother). The dish was amazing, and the review… well, you can read it yourselves and see why she was motivated to chose my book with her delicious dish.

‘Psychs’ review by Martha A. Cheves.

I copied the review below in case you don’t like traveling a lot, and as for the recipe, you can get it through the previous link.

My name is Hassan what’s yours?’ They replied in turns. ‘Jack.’ ‘Mason.’ The last one to be introduced was a woman I had first seen behind the glass window, the one who had watched me sleeping when I was admitted. She looked different, they all looked military, and she was the only one who didn’t fit in the picture. And for some reason, she looked very familiar to me. ‘Sara.’ My eyes started to widen. ‘I am your mother dear.’

All through his life Hassan has felt there was always someone watching him. Now and then he would even see a quick movement out of the corner of his eye. It wasn’t until he came to the rescue of a woman and child being beaten by husband only to have the husband bring him near death that he realized his images were real. At least as real as ghosts can be. They had always looked after him but couldn’t communicate, until Hassan came up with an idea. Sign language. That would give he and the ghosts a way of communicating without actually speaking. But Hassan’s ghosts were not only his guardian angels, they became his teachers. Through them he was able to lead a 2nd life that would prove most valuable in years to come.

Adam, also known as Shark, was a Navy Seal that had been held prisoner for years. His capturers were of the worse type. Torture was used more as an entertainment than to acquire information they might need and since Adam’s strong hold was his hands, their first form of torture was to remove his arms leaving him with no method of self-defense. They may have destroyed his body but they never destroyed his mind, soul and determination to live. So, after 13 years of torture, Shark meets Hassan and the battle begins.

Psychs is a book that brings out the strength of mind over body in its desire to live, both through Hassan and Shark. The stories of both that lead up to their story together is one that may sound impossible but with the author’s ability to write, you can see, feel and picture each line as it happens. This is a very well written book and an extremely interesting story. I can actually see this one being made into a movie with someone like Bruce Willis being Hassan. Now I’m impatiently waiting on the next book in the series ‘The Remnant.’
