Beta As It May…

Punning my way into this post, I feel excited that I am getting closer to reveal what was hidden for a while; The book cover had only hinted itself so far, and with the Alpha post, I hope I made a big step towards telling my story. Can’t wait to see what Charlie will bring tomorrow.

Here's what went down on my last post... its only a click away

Here’s what went down on my last post… its only a click away

Today is the second post out of seven, bringing us closer towards the first look of my second book’s new cover. I believe that you don’t judge a book by its cover… that is true… but for some degree, you can judge a novel by the back cover. Which is why today Beta post will be a blurb from my second book, entitled Iblis (Arabic for Devil), which would be apparent on the back cover.

With no more options to venture through, Hassan will be left with only one choice; to flee and start up a new life, leaving all the ties that have braced his entire being. But some ties are too tight, when severed; it will change his balance and force him back to face a tragedy.

Following his leads, Hassan will find himself roaming the streets of London for reprisal. Even with eight spirits by his side, which are connected to him by the tragic event of his birth, he will feel outnumbered, going against the Minerva Group and its limitless arsenal of agents and brutes. Hassan will desperately try his best to stay out of their reach until he finds a way to cut his losses short.

But being too deep in the belly of the beast, he may end up losing more; his life, or even worse… his sanity.

I always try to choose my words wisely, because unfortunately, revealing more could somehow lead to spoiling the big surprise and the hidden cords that I planted inside the book to jolt you with shocks… In a good way of course.

Keep an eye out for Charlie… He’s only a day away.

Where was I..?

No, don’t wipe your screen, it’s not dusty, it’s just long lost, relic me. It has been a while since I last wrote on my blog, but now my intern year – which occupied most of my mortal time – is only twenty days from becoming a past experience. And I have the best comeback I could ever offer.

A quick update… I have been working in the clinics… yes, that part is true, a doctor… OK… a dentist… by day, and a writer by night. So here’s how my obscured life is… ‘Iblis’, the second book of the Psychs series, is back in production. I don’t want to delay it any more. The hunt for an agent is still on track, so until then, I am publishing my second book and hope it will get the same – and hopefully more – recognition from the readers and reviewers. And guess what… a book cover will be revealed, hopefully sooner than you can say ‘Really?’.

I’ll give you just a taste, a part from the first design which will be modified.

Book1 copy

More good news…. The third book is being written as we speak… I mean as we write… read… you get the picture.

The full picture will be shared soon, and I will be revealing more from Iblis (Arabic for Devil). I will post more of me stuff too of course, now that I have time to spare. Today I will go classic, just the way I like it, and watch an old movie. I am going to enjoy (Eye of the needle) A spy movie taking place in World War II, starring Donald Sutherland.

Enjoy your weekends.

Very Annoyed…

Let me start  by asking this question… have you ever had so many things piling, that without a doubt, at some point, the straw that broke the camel’s back will eventually finds its way to you? You know it’s going to land there at some point but you don’t know when? Well… I’ll keep tapping on those letters on my laptop and see if you will realize what brought me to this desert that lacks the oasis.

At the moment I am having a short vacation. Here I find myself having none of the time I need to do the things I like the most; writing, reading, jogging and many other activities that one should be doing on his/her vacation. First thing on my list is my publishing experience for my second book(or technically third since I’ve released a spinoff from my series for free on Smashwords and Scribd, too). My novel, Iblis, or also known as Devilish, is at halt at the moment, and here’s why… I discovered that I only get almost 13% from my sales for my novel online… now I know  I am not in it for the money… I am in it to make people’s jaws drop… but honestly… 13% out of the whole is something I would feel offended by, because taking four years of my life to create book 1 & 2 is something I should take more credit for… when I agreed to the 50% for my e-book I also thought it was unfair… 50% is like saying you did half of my job… still, if it helps to get my words out and on people’s hands to enjoy I won’t mind it… but 13%… well… sorry but that’s too much for me to handle.

So this time I decided to do it with the help of an agent. I got a respond and sent with my fingers crossed a three sample chapters from my novel Iblis.

The other thing I am being annoyed by is the fact that I have no time to write and read because I am helping someone, who I can’t say no to, to write his novel… It is taking so much time from me and I can’t do it with all the kids running around me… yes, kids are staying at our home because, apparently, both my brother and sister decided to take a time away from them and leave for their own vacations.

So yes… I feel very annoyed… and at some point, I’m going to explode… I know it’s coming, but I don’t know when… all I need to do is find something to aim at… my punching bag was sold because… well no one uses it… my young brother (yes… he’s an object to lash at to me) did surgery so that’s a no too, but he must get a note from his doctor first, so there’s some hope. There’s always sports………………. sorry for stopping briefly… I needed to catch my breath, I really need to stretch before I blog.

Well… I don’t know… maybe I should walk it out? In the mean time, I’ll wait to see how it will go with the agent hunt… and as for my reading… I can always get that going before I sleep.

Here is my reading agenda for the coming months so far:

Not in that order in particular… I’ll start with what my mood decides to strike first… as you can see… I’m kind of moody today.

Cheers everyone.

Meet Rod and Mason…

Before releasing a spinoff from a main series, I think we should first learn who will we be spinning with. That is why today I am posting the new guests of honor from the series. Today I introduce Rod and Mason.

psychs 1st

Let us recap for the last time. ‘Psychs 1st’ is a spinoff that tells the story of young Hassan, a guy with eight ghosts connected to him by the tragic event of his birth. He decided to visit the United States in an effort to put closure to the 7 ghosts who are connected to him by visiting their families and give them letters with a fake story of how he got those letters, only to discover that he is there to do more than that.

So without further stalling and teasing, I give you Rod and Mason.

~ Rod

The team’s marksman. He had the acutest senses, his hearing is so strong he can tell how many people are there by just hearing their foot steps. But now, all is left is the knowledge that he carried to Hassan, because after he died and due to his ghostly status, he was deprived from his hearing abilities. He was the person who saved Sara, Hassan’s real mother, while still pregnant with her son.

~ Mason

The team’s medic, and Hassan’s best friend. He was an only child. He helped Hassan through the medical part during his time at Liverpool university. He have always wanted to leave the army and just focus on his medical career, but his crush on Emma made him stay. And now, he is bound to her through Hassan.

 psychs 1st

Let us recap before we move forward. ‘Psychs 1st’ is a spin off that tells the story of young Hassan, a guy with eight ghosts connected to him by the tragic event of his birth, he decided to visit the United States in an effort to put closure to the 7 ghosts who are connected to him by visiting their families and give them letters with a fake story of how he got those letters, only to discover that he is there to do more than that, and probably to try and survive.

So without further stalling and teasing, I give you Chow and Joseph.

~ Chow

One of the best communication experts at his time. He was too good, he can dissemble and assemble his equipments in pitch darkness. He is also known for his great and unnatural measuring skills, with the ability to give very good calculation of the distances by sight only. He was the first to die, sealing his fate with Hassan’s. He left behind a wife, with a three months old embryo in her womb.

Chow

~ Joseph

The person with the most knowledge of Close Quarter Battle. He is the oldest individual out of the others. He believes that humans are like metals; you need to apply stress in order to strengthen them. Which is why he took it upon himself to teach Hassan the hard way, applying stress and insane physical training to make sure he stays stronger. But after a while, life got in the way and training became a luxury Hassan can’t always have. He left behind a wife and 5 year old twin sons.

Joseph

A rebel who is easily drawn to the pleasures of life, which is why in the beginning he was the most resistant to his new spectral state. In peaceful times, he can’t be found, but when things gets hard, he will always be with the others in the front line. When he died, he left behind three daughters, a wife and one girlfriend.

Jack

~ Reed

The first time he introduced himself and his skill, Hassan swallowed. In his previous life he was an explosives expert. He became Hassan’s main adviser and tutor in that area, helping him fashion military grade equipments from house hold materials, with the help of Steven Chow, the communication expert spirit.

Meet Sara and Emma…

Before releasing a spinoff from a main series I think we should first learn who will we be spinning with? That is why in the coming days I will host guest honors from the series, and since my last post placed me in a good mood, today I will introduce two characters from the ‘Psychs’ series.

So without further stalling and teasing, here are the first two ghosts, and I think it is only appropriate to start with the one who gave birth to our main character.

~ Sara

SaraThe first time they found her she was pregnant and only a click away from her death, right after she had lost her husband and Hassan’s real father. Strangely for everyone and even her own son, she appears as the most ghostly looking spirit of the group because she has wide eyes and looked as if she came out from a Tim Burton movie. She was the first ghost to appear to him and the most to stick around Hassan.

~ Emma

EmmaOther than the fact that she is one of the soldiers who found Sara, outside the military life she is a lover of fantasy, she is a Star Wars fan and a very good climber in her previous life, all that was an influence from her father. She is an only child. She was the closest person to Sara when they all died.

I hope you enjoyed meeting Sara and Emma, they would be really pleased to have met you all if they were real, but who knows, maybe they do exist in another world and I dreamed about them.

Will be introducing the rest of the family in the coming days.

What have I been up to recently…

“Easy reading is damn hard writing” ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

Today and every previous day I am polishing what I wrote so I can present them in the best desirable form for avid readers. I am working hard so I can release (hopefully) three titles this year; Psychs 1st, which is a short story and a spin off from the Psychs series that tells the story of young Hassan’s visit to the United States in an effort to put closure to the 7 ghosts who are connected to him, by visiting their families and give them letters with a fake story of how he got those letters, only to discover that he is there to do more than that, and probably to try and survive.
My second finished work is Kima, a short inspirational story about a true event that occurred in South Africa in 1928, following the old Kima who tells an unbelievable story to young Alice and Alex, and they will learn so much from this fantasy story… Or is it a fantasy?
And last but surely not least, Iblis, the second novel of the Psychs series… This one I’m not revealing more than two things. First, Iblis is Arabic for ‘Devil’, and second, here’s a look inside the prologue.
