With no more options to venture through, Hassan will be left with only one choice; to flee and start up a new life, leaving all the ties that have braced his entire being. But some ties are too tight, when severed; it will change his balance and force him back to face a tragedy.

Following his leads, Hassan will find himself roaming the streets of London for reprisal. Even with eight spirits by his side, which are connected to him by the tragic event of his birth, he will feel outnumbered, going against the Minerva Group and its limitless arsenal of agents and brutes. Hassan will desperately try his best to stay out of their reach until he finds a way to cut his losses short.

But being too deep in the belly of the beast, he may end up losing more; his life, or even worse… his sanity.

Meet Rod and Mason…

Before releasing a spinoff from a main series, I think we should first learn who will we be spinning with. That is why today I am posting the new guests of honor from the series. Today I introduce Rod and Mason.

psychs 1st

Let us recap for the last time. ‘Psychs 1st’ is a spinoff that tells the story of young Hassan, a guy with eight ghosts connected to him by the tragic event of his birth. He decided to visit the United States in an effort to put closure to the 7 ghosts who are connected to him by visiting their families and give them letters with a fake story of how he got those letters, only to discover that he is there to do more than that.

So without further stalling and teasing, I give you Rod and Mason.

~ Rod

The team’s marksman. He had the acutest senses, his hearing is so strong he can tell how many people are there by just hearing their foot steps. But now, all is left is the knowledge that he carried to Hassan, because after he died and due to his ghostly status, he was deprived from his hearing abilities. He was the person who saved Sara, Hassan’s real mother, while still pregnant with her son.

~ Mason

The team’s medic, and Hassan’s best friend. He was an only child. He helped Hassan through the medical part during his time at Liverpool university. He have always wanted to leave the army and just focus on his medical career, but his crush on Emma made him stay. And now, he is bound to her through Hassan.

The world did not end, and so did not my thriller…

My thriller, Psychs, have been released by my new publisher in e-book format. The reason why I started that way was simple, whenever you go to a bookstore two things a book can capture you with, first the cover… check (Top Ten Book Covers Of The Year 2012), the second thing is what it says on that cover itself, i.e. Reviews.

fb2

This year was a blessing for me, I can’t see the humor in the Mayan’s joke about the end of the world. My book have received positive reviews so far, I even created a new page on my website for those reviews too, from a literary magazine, from authors, from customers and from bloggers. Now, those reviews should be where it belong, on and inside the book.

So that’s why I decided to announce that my thriller, Psychs, will be soon available in Paperback format on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and many other online sellers. And with the new cover smeared with reviews on it, it will be available and more noticeable in bookstores too.

I am standing on the threshold of the next year’s door, and leaving 2012 with good memories and the sense of accomplishments, even though they were little, because the important thing is, I’m moving forward and away from my starting point.

I’ll be revealing more from my book, so next time, be prepared, because I will be revealing some new stuff about my characters and my thriller that, in a way, I have never revealed before. Until then, enjoy your last week of 2012, and have a great holiday.

A friend I haven’t seen for a while is now a fan…

I felt my pocket vibrate yesterday, it was my i-phone receiving a message from a strange number which turned out to be a dear friend of mine, a friend who read my book and liked it so much that he decided to do this little prank with me before he let me know who he was.

Those who read my story will understand what the conversation means.

‘The best soldier in the world is the one no one knows that he’s the best’ ~ Psychs, A. H. Amin

‘The best soldier in the world is the one no one knows that he’s the best’ ~ Psychs, A. H. Amin

This quote from my book came to my thoughts because it also applies in our daily lives, being really good in what you do is one thing, but to be modest about your actions and do good for good’s sake is what makes you THE best in what you do.

Happy weekend everyone,

Kirkus review of my thriller, Psychs…

Click to view the full review

It’s finally out and in the open. A positive review of my thriller ‘Psychs‘ from Kirkus Reviews, one of the world’s most reliable reviewers. I really loved what they said about my book, the only negative they mentioned did not originate from the story itself, but from some mistakes that managed to pass by my editor.

It was a short review for most of the article went into explaining the jest of the story with no spoilers to be leaked out. Here’s what Kirkus had said about me and my thriller that I found interesting:-

‘Amin, a screenwriter, includes fantastic, sometimes gory action sequences fit for film.’

‘Jumping around in the flashbacks can be somewhat jarring, but it’s used effectively enough to allow readers to fully understand the history and motives driving Hassan and Adam.’

‘Action-packed tale of beyond-the-grave good vs. evil.’

The words (Rough-hewn) were used and they were a negative but the positive counteracted it.

For the full review you can click on the previous image and it will automatically pick you up and take you there.

Another thing I would like to share with you all is my recent interview at ‘Paranormal Book Club‘. It was a really nice and entertaining conversation. Feel free to drop by and hear what I had to say for their questions (Also by clicking the picture below).

Well… we can’t win them all…

I don’t want to be the kind of author who only shares the good reviews now would I? It’s actually a bad thing to conceal what other readers think of your work because obviously we live in a world where every brain is blessed with its own taste buds, but mostly I think it’s bad not to share unappealing reviews because other authors who are new and on their way to have themselves published have to prepare themselves through us, so they can know that it’s not always a 5 star ride.

The thing I didn’t like about his review that he mostly talked about what bothered him about the book even though he said he enjoyed it, but what can I say… we can’t win them all.

Click to visit the review

He didn’t like my style, you see, to have the book placed on a steady pace I used flashbacks instead of representing the story in the right chronological order and to make them appear separate I presented the flashbacks in first person while the main course was presented in third person, he found that confusing. Also, and I’m with him with that, there are some grammatical errors that skipped my editor which was something I hated and will avoid with the new paperback edition which will be released in the coming months.

The other thing was the Ghosts… you see, it’s a fast pace thriller and they act, switch places according to the situation and so on… he got lost while trying to keep up with each Ghost. I don’t blame him, I myself had to work hard to make sure that I don’t misplace or mistake one ghost’s location with the other.

All in all, he enjoyed the book, but he gave more account about what he found unappealing in his review.
