Book Review: Psychs (Psychs #1)

I loved what she said about my book, and the things she did not like wasn’t plot related. I’m glad to know my novel glued her to her seat.

‘Psychs’ e-book reveal

I have mentioned my novel so many times before, bits and pieces of it. Now is the time to represent it in a new, more flashy way, as promised before.

Here’s a video where you will get to know more about my novel, and maybe about me too.

It’s a matter of time now…

My book is in the process of taking a different form now, an unphysical one. ‘Psychs‘ is on its way to Amazon’s Kindle, B&N’s Nook, i-store, and many other on-line e-book sellers out there in the digital world. So hopefully in the coming weeks, I will be able to share my fiction thriller with more avid readers out there, it is only a matter of time now.

My publishers asked me to add links to my widget, which they provided for me, like facebook page, Twitter, blog… and if I can, a youtube video. Just finished with the last one, filming, not uploading though. It is being edited by my very close and dear friend, who’s a wonder when it comes to these kind of things (I see a good future for him, but only if he decides to pursue it).

So stay tune for a short preview of my novel, hopefully it will be during this week, and maybe one day, I will show you the bloopers.

Elements of my novel ‘Psychs’… Part 3

Two elements have been discussed before this new piece of my mind, the first was Characters, the second element was Time.

Here’s a new element of ‘Psychs‘, and its a crucial one… Location.

One of the novel’s location.
Picture taken at Dubai Marina, Emirates.

THE THIRD ELEMENT: LOCATION

I wanted diversity, in a place I can imagine scenes for my story to take place in them; ‘Emirates’ was the perfect candidate.

I have spent great years in there, I discovered my talent in creating stories for starters, but mostly, I gained inspiration. I knew the locations, and they were compatible with what I needed for my story.

And of course, I had a location in which I can create characters from different countries and even different backgrounds, seeing how Emirates are housing at least 202 nationalities in the labour market alone… this made things even easier for me. It can be related to the first thing I have mentioned in the beginning of my novel…

‘Good and Evil has no passport; it wears many skins, speaks in different tongues, and exists everywhere, even in the same person’

Elements of my novel ‘Psychs’… Part 2

I posted the first element of ‘Psychs‘ yesterday, a fiction thriller which is available on Amazon’s Kindle, B&N’s Nook, i-store and other e-book sellers. And now, I’ll introduce the second main element  which made my thriller, Time.

THE SECOND ELEMENT: TIME

The main events of my thriller takes place 10 years from now, but it’s not a futuristic sci/fi novel. So why did I jump forward?

Well… I always try to provide as much spaces as I can for the readers to fill in the blanks, everyone has their own beliefs of the situations and of the people that are around us, so the reader may think subconsciously ‘That can’t happen here, not in these times’. And that’s why I created another time, vague to the readers, yet familiar at the same time (location wise), so my story can seep into the mind without so many check points.

Lots of things can happen within ten years. Creating fictional locations within real ones was another reason why I went forward in time… and of course, there are the events too; I can easily add fictional events from my own in this new time period I created to run smoothly with the plot of my story.

Time was a main element in my story; it was the synergist to boost the story’s plot

Elements of my novel, ‘Psychs’… Part 1

I revealed in my last post my new e-book cover for ‘Psychs‘, a novel for avid readers and thrill seekers. Since the news is out there, I thought I should make everyone more familiar with my thriller. So I decided to talk about what made my novel.

Everything in the universe exists because there are certain elements allowing them to fill the space. So what gave shape to my novel, ‘Psychs’?

Any book is made from paper, but it can only earn its existence if it has a soul. The elements that count for in any novel we read, are the elements that gave the book its life… and its purpose. Here is the first element of my fiction thriller, I hope through that you will get to know and love the soul of my book.

THE FIRST ELEMENT: CHARACTERS

Richard Linklater quoted from Thomas Wolfe in Before Sunset, saying…
‘We are the sum of all the moments of our lives, and that anybody who sits down to write is gonna use a clay of their own life, that you can’t avoid’
I was able to imagine my fictional characters from my reality; my family, my friends, from my times in the university, my brief time I spent working as a timepieces salesman, or even from a nickname of a beloved. It all left an impact on me, and through that, on my way of thinking and writing.

Some dialogues came from real chit chats I had in my life, or from a certain event at the dinner table. Talking to luxury timepieces customers requires being able to know what you should say and when to say it. I carved and polished all that to adjust them to my characters, and then, came the process of making them related to readers.
The methods I used for shaping my characters is adding flaws, and I let my characters think by themselves too. That is done by imagining a person in my life or even an actor, thinking to my self ‘What would he/she would do in this situation?… What would that person say or be thinking at that moment?’
Having the characters, their own dialogue, their flaws… all that will eventually lead to having my own world, you either draw it or write about it… my family have already been blessed with a great painter… so I grew toward the latter’s way of creation… Plus, when it comes to painting, I’m almost color blind.
