Our Light Will Shine By The Grace Of God…

125 dead, 147 injured, on Ramadan; a month where it is forbidden to fight. Victims from different class, and age; children, young and parents. United by a nation they try to desperately tear apart. There is nothing Muslim about killing Muslim children, our unity and love will prevail; the first civilization sprang from Tigris and Euphrates rivers more than 11000 years before the time of our father Abraham, it won’t be extinguished by the fires of petty terrorists, if anything our spirits will shine more fierce by the grace of God. Those who believe ISIS are Islam, they should see who they are killing before they say anything. My heart goes to the families, WE all lost our brothers and sisters.
Pray for Iraq.

Diving for too long…

GASP!!… Now that I’ve regained my breath, let me illustrate for you the true purpose behind my long dive under the blog radar.

Dreams will always be a fantasy, unless we fashion them into reality, and as long as my worst enemy, I’m talking about Mr. Time, keeps pulling me under, they won’t be materialized to something palpable. Now, however, I have managed to emerge from my drowning state, so I can be able to present my most recent news.

I have been away for a while, turning every stone I encounter until I found my precious golden individuals. I have gathered a team of talents who are about to venture with me through our new journey. We are going to start a production company. You heard it correctly.

How did that happen? Well, the story goes with an idea. I approached my new book cover creator (Iblis) with a new story which I wanted to tell in a different manner than I’m known for; through episodic comic motion. Looking at his talent with what he did with my second book‘s cover, I was able to feel confident about the future of that project. But, after discussing it with him and his cousin (who is now our director of photography) they decided to include more talents in our small group. So after meeting with our professional team, we were able to tell that this new conglomeration felt right. So before we move on with our work, we decided to know each other through a small project at first. Short movie will require creating a new story, which I didn’t mind, but another thought shot through our designer’s head, hitting the right target. He suggested that we could start with a small commercial, which could be considered as a Minute Story.

So here’s what happened, we have approached the Kuwaiti American Football Team, who, thank’s to our aligned lucky stars, are on their way to play in the world cup this October. My responsibility is to create the idea of the commercial, to do the musical score and to direct the commercial. This Sunday we will meet to discuss the project with the owner of the team. Hopefully, they will respond positively to what we are bringing to their table.

Now you know the reason why I have been too quiet… because I’ve been too busy using my words elsewhere. Once that works, and after the commercial is out (and shared with you all 😉 ) we will hopefully proceed with the other project. I will only leave you with this… Project “Storm-bound” will be my next big thing.

Let’s Call It “Reveal Week”, Shall we?…

So much for keeping a lid on that little birdie. Inevitably, it is meant to be soaring. So what am I trying to release from the cage? Well… It is a flock of posts that will be out everyday till the final and most important day; which would be this Friday.

I have spilled the news about the book cover and gave a little taste by posting a cropped image of my to be released second book (third technically if you counted my free spinoff – Psychs 1st -). So I have finally decided to reveal the thousand words confined within the portrait that is my book cover… So why wait a full week for what’s clicks away from being revealed? Simple…

This week would be my last week of my long year working as an intern in the clinics… which was the main reason why I haven’t been pouring my creative juices and instead, throwing all my energy away from writing. But I believe God has three answers to every requests… Yes… Not now… and I have something better instead… I guess my prayers landed on the last two. Which is why I’m glad all the delays had happened, because that means that my new novel will be a summer read… vacation time… couldn’t ask for a better timing.

So in the spirit of my soon to be finished intern year… I welcome you to join me and to get more involved with the Series… I will be revealing something new every day till cover day, which for those who somehow skipped that, would be Thursday… For those who just looked up again… your brains is alright… I was messing with you. Reveal day will be on Friday like I have mentioned earlier.

I will also post the prologue, chapter 1 and chapter 2 from the book each every two days. Just to give you a little taste of what is to come.

Can’t wait for Friday to come… those birds are going Hitchcock on me inside the cage.

Weekends are at the corner, guess what is waiting to surprise you?

I have recently flew on vacation a couple of days ago and as I was checking the bookstores available there I came across this…

20130807-113144.jpg

I was really glad even though (Physical bookstores wise and not online stores wise) my novel is only available in two bookstores where I live. Still, I like having my book next to Lee Child and Suzanne Collins
And it has also put me in the mood to announce that the next weekend will be the release of ‘Psych’s first’, a spinoff from my local Bestseller, Psychs, and it will be for free for everyone to read. Starting this week I will be building a launch pad for the next week release by introducing each character and spelling some of the important, spoilers free, details so you can have a better insight of Psychs.
Feel free to connect with my Facebook page and on my Twitter to learn more and get involved with the series. More news and updates to come.

It’s my birthday… So here’s my surprise

Today I pass again through the thresholds of the door that brought me to this world for the 28th time, maybe more if you believe in reincarnation. It was a day that I have been waiting for, not to be showered with gifts, but to share a surprise that I have been holding for far too long.
I have mentioned a surprise I have stored for you before, when I talked about Kima, my new inspirational novel. I mentioned it quickly so I can be discreet about it until the day I open the lid on it and spill it out for everyone; it was a Psychs related news, and it was not related to the second book, Iblis. So here’s a picture that says it all.

20130702-221531.jpg

Psychs 1st is a short story that follows Young Hassan, the U. S. military ghosts and the spirit of his mother to a trip to the United States.
After giving their lives to save Hassan’s while he was still in the womb, they became connected to his existence, well, only eight spirits did. That sacrifice gave him gifts, knowledge, protection and most importantly, a life… Or lives. So as a way to show them his gratitude, he decides to go to the United States of America to deliver messages to the ghosts families… But what he will find there could cause him his life, and the life of one of the ghosts family member.
Psychs 1st will be shared online here and on my other social network sites, for free. It is after all a gift from me to you.

Feel free to visit my website to learn more and to get involved.

New updates and sum ups…

I have been quiet lately about my fiction thriller for a while because I was enjoying my vacation. I have graduated and became an official Dentist more than a month ago, since then I have placed my first draft of the second book of the Psychs series with my two most critical readers. I, however, enjoyed my first and maybe last long vacation in my life before I start my rotation.

Me at TGI Fridays

Me at TGI Fridays

Writing is the only work I love to do and don’t think I need a vacation from, I have finished my second book of the series and during my vacation I started reading it as a reader and not as a writer, meaning I wasn’t looking for editing or vocabulary or anything that is roughly affecting the words and needed to be smoothed out, I was reading as a hard critic who is only looking for something negative in the story itself. I have finished the book and came up with this conclusion.

I can do better

Writers should always be flexible and resilient when it comes to writing their novels, they should leave their pride out of it. When you, the writer, or anyone else find a flaw in your words or ideas you must do what’s necessary for the sake of the story.

Which is why I decided to delay the release of the second chapter in the Psychs series, The Remnant. I have already started the new modifications.

What will happen is this, I’ll be keeping my plot, which was the doorstep to the third book of the series, and to have more of what I believe my story needs, I will be combining the second book of the Psychs series with the third book, and The Remnant will be a name of one of the book’s chapters… which means the title will change too.

So allow me to introduce for the first time, the new name of the second book in the Psychs series.

Iblīs

A word which means Devil. I chose that word because it has a nice ring to it, and I believe its tone will help pickup my story to where I want it to be. And because you’ve been too good, you will soon get to hear the Prologue. It’s already been written and the rough edges are smoothed, but I am just working on presenting it in a unique manner. The first time should always be special.

That’s how I’ve been for the last couple of days.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that I will be doing a book signing in the first bookstore that I have started selling at, and in which my old copies of my fiction thriller became a best seller where I live in Kuwait.

I will be introducing my new edition for the first time in a bookstore at That Al Salasil Bookstore (roughly translated ‘Of the series’), once I receive my new copies.

The recent and reviewed edition of the Psychs series.

So as you can see, I will be very busy in the coming days. I’m glad the vacation has recharged me for what’s coming. It took me a while to reach there, and I couldn’t do it without the support I have received from all of my kind readers and from the help and advices I received from all the authors and agents out there.

Psychs is available in both Paperback edition and E-book edition in more than 33 online stores including:-

Amazon

Barnes and Noble

Ada Lovelace… Does the name rings a bell?

Well, it should. Ada Lovelace, Countess of Lovelace, is an English mathematician and a writer. Most of you would think ‘So? We have a lot of those these days’. So what would lit a spark in me to write about her today?

She was born on this day, in 1815 and she died at the age of 36, on the 27th of November 1852, she lived a very short life, most people who lived most of a century may think their lives were short, so they’ll probably think that 36 is but a moment spent on planet earth. But…

Ada did in her 36 years in our world something we can never have lived without our entire lives. You are surely curious to know what? So here’s a hint… You probably wouldn’t have been able to see this post if wasn’t for her.

Ada was Chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage‘s (father of the computer) early mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. Her notes include what is recognised as the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine. Because of this, she is often considered the world’s first computer programmer. Let’s say that again… The world’s first computer programmer.

Happy birthday, Ada! Thanks to your work the world will forever be able to know and celebrate your birthday today.

You can learn more about her life, works, family and her final years here: Ada Loevlace

My thriller, ‘Psychs’ will be on display at the Tucson Festival of Books

I just agreed with my publisher to make my novel ‘Psychs’ present at the fourth largest book festival in the United States, the Tucson Festival of Books. It will surely be a big thing for my novel since it will be viewed in front of more than 100,000 readers. It will be held on the campus of the University of Arizona for two days, 9-10th of March 2013. So many things to do, first I’ll celebrate, and then I will mostly be sharing more about my novel from time to time, especially since there are more good news coming on the way, like I can’t wait to share the Kirkus review once it’s posted. But until then, here are some links of authors, customer and bloggers reviews of ‘Psychs

Two interviews in one week

Last week was the busiest, I shipped my book to the UK, had my hands full in finishing up with some of the patients in the clinics, and I had a full week exams.

Two days ago I was called for an interview in my university, and I did another one yesterday, which was conducted online… It was just what I needed after having a long week, and I had fun doing both. Here’s one Which occurred yesterday, An interview by Adam A. Ameen… I hope you will enjoy it, and if you felt like it, you can ask me anything too.

Q: I read your blogs and I want to know, how did you go from not being interested in reading to writing?

A: Well… I took a summer course, which as you know, is boring… So as I was shopping, I saw a book, called The lake house by James Patterson, it was a thriller. I liked the synopsis, and it said don’t read it alone at home… so naturally I read it alone at home… and that’s when I realized the love of reading, It was better than the movies, because when you read, you are the director, and for us, our imagination is the best.

Which brings us to writing, I saw my potentials when I gave my ideas to students who were discussing making a movie, I saw my self like the writers I admired… and one day, I saw one of my ideas, the one published now, getting praises from many… so I started writing, and here I am

Q: But what made you think you were able to write a whole novel just from a single idea?

A: Well… the impact of the idea coursed me to believe I can… I saw people seeing potential in it. My idea kept growing until I had no choice but to let it flow out

Q: And did you have experience writing before?

A: Before I started my novel? No… I was the guy who didn’t do well in literature courses… But at the same time I was only writing to get grades and just pass, and not to express or to be creative… So my experience came later, with reading… and you can tell that you gained a lot because when you read your work after you are done, you’ll get to realize what it needs to be at THAT league, the league of the bestselling authors.

Q: So In that case I’m guessing you did research to plan your story?

A: Research is an understatement… I did more than that

Q: How so?

A: I read two books about body language and the art of persuasion, so I can master my dialogues and my characters. I read technological books, like Spy craft, books about technicality and tactics, I went around asking doctors and pharmacist some medical questions… and of course, the internet… My eyes boiled daily as I did my researches, it was an effort which I really really enjoyed… I forgot to mention that I also did research about history and locations, and, believe it or not, about luxury watches

Q: That’s really something, let me ask you this though. How did you know you, say halfway through the story, that your writing is good and not bad?

A: Well, I doubted my self many times, because I can’t be the one to judge, because its my book… so half way through I wasn’t sure, I was sure though after I finished and started reading. It was like reading another book, I found my self enjoying what I wrote, and that’s when I realized it’s really good, by going back to my work as a stranger

Q: But were you completely detached from your work when you read it as just a reader?

A: You can’t tell… Which is why I got a second, third, and eventually, 20th or maybe more opinions… Even the greatest authors have to give their work to their agents before they approve to print their work. So When I saw that others loved it, I went for the process of publishing

Q: The most intriguing thing to me is: how did you fix the loopholes in your story after you were done and how did you make sure you tied all the loose ends? And more importantly how did you know you were done?

A: I made points before I started to write, and I read the book three times after I was done… So I guess its what did I do before I wrote and afterwards that made me sure I have tided all the loose ends.. and to be honest, I placed some ends further from this book to be tied later in the sequels.

Q: And did you ever think of putting anything of yours that you thought too controversial like something offensive, strong language or sex?

A: I don’t have to… you will always have readers thinking that way… some may see racism from a children’s book… which is why I went to avoid that by making my characters from more than one place, in a place where diversity exists, and most importantly, I wrote in the beginning of my novel

‘Good and Evil has no passport, it wears many skins, speaks in different tongues, and exists every where… even in the same person’

Well… its official, I have just sent copies to (Dorset, Poole… England) at the request of bookworm books. I was happy, because the owner have also became a fan after reading the book… I guess he’s a fan of fantasy thrillers too.
