Sooner Than Ever…

Hello everyone!!

Yes, it’s been too long now ever since I started pouring gas on that spark I called Iblis, the second book in my series, which can stand alone on its own. July was supposed to be the date, and guess what… it still is.

The second book in the Psychs series will be released in a blink now. So today, other than giving a shout out, I wanted to post some previous materials like the youtube videos I’ve posted and the book cover, just to refresh my blog and to give some new readers an idea about what is to come.

It’s my birthday… So here’s my surprise

Today I pass again through the thresholds of the door that brought me to this world for the 28th time, maybe more if you believe in reincarnation. It was a day that I have been waiting for, not to be showered with gifts, but to share a surprise that I have been holding for far too long.
I have mentioned a surprise I have stored for you before, when I talked about Kima, my new inspirational novel. I mentioned it quickly so I can be discreet about it until the day I open the lid on it and spill it out for everyone; it was a Psychs related news, and it was not related to the second book, Iblis. So here’s a picture that says it all.

Psychs 1st is a short story that follows Young Hassan, the U. S. military ghosts and the spirit of his mother to a trip to the United States.
After giving their lives to save Hassan’s while he was still in the womb, they became connected to his existence, well, only eight spirits did. That sacrifice gave him gifts, knowledge, protection and most importantly, a life… Or lives. So as a way to show them his gratitude, he decides to go to the United States of America to deliver messages to the ghosts families… But what he will find there could cause him his life, and the life of one of the ghosts family member.
Psychs 1st will be shared online here and on my other social network sites, for free. It is after all a gift from me to you.

Feel free to visit my website to learn more and to get involved.

The beginning of an obsession… ‘How ‘Kima’ started’

‘Art is a single soul divided to all’

This expression is what I always use to describe the fragment of the creator’s spirit within us, which empower our creative juices and draws us towards the stories we are meant to portrait through words, colors or sounds. In my last post, Kima was mentioned for the first time, an inspirational story that I have been finally polishing to its final form… a bit different than my first release, Psychs, a fiction thriller following the story of a guy bound to 8 spirits by the tragic event of his birth, who then uses those ghosts and their knowledge to become a soldier of fortune.
So why the surprising shift? Is it a writer’s pride? To try and prove to one’s self that I can write anything in any genre? Well, to answer that I have to go back to how it all started in 2009, where an idea dropped by.

Ideas delivered
Art by Adrian Borda

I came across by chance – or fate – to an article on the Internet, where stranded false killer whales were found in South Africa, in that article they mentioned that the first time this had happened in there was in 1928, Christmas Eve, at Kommetjie Beach, though it had happened in other places long before that. For some reason or another I couldn’t get that out of my head… I started to look into it and all I got were theories and some were controversial, but in the end, my curiosity was left unsatisfied.
I started to imagine my own reasons, then I started to picture how did it feel to see something like that for the first time, on Christmas Eve, how did the people, or the first person to see that, reacted… Could that person be a kid?… It must have been a traumatizing thing to witness… A story could be told, so I started to write thoughts only, on a new note book that I got and labeled for the recent obsessing idea.
One day, I did a research at the library to know more about South Africa, particularly about life over there in 1928… And there it was, I came across something that flickered my passion to write Kima, something that I believe could be the reason that could fulfill my curiosity. I started writing, and reading, rewriting, reading again and then rewrote for a final read.
Kima will be released this year, and I will be sharing an excerpt from the novel and some hand picked quotes that I hope will be enjoyed and inspire everyone.
I also have a ‘Psychs’ related surprise that I hope you will feel excited about too. But until then, enjoy your days.

That moment when I write ‘The End’…

20130609-153731.jpg

Hello my dear readers,

Last week I have placed the final nail on my new novel, Kima, an inspirational story inspired by an annual event that happens every year since 1928, in South Africa.
Today, I felt like sharing my great news and in the future I will be sharing even more.
Also…
Be on the lookout for a Psychs related news… And no, it’s not Iblis

Have a wonderful day everyone.

A friend I haven’t seen for a while is now a fan…

I felt my pocket vibrate yesterday, it was my i-phone receiving a message from a strange number which turned out to be a dear friend of mine, a friend who read my book and liked it so much that he decided to do this little prank with me before he let me know who he was.

Those who read my story will understand what the conversation means.

‘Psychs’ e-book reveal

I have mentioned my novel so many times before, bits and pieces of it. Now is the time to represent it in a new, more flashy way, as promised before.

Here’s a video where you will get to know more about my novel, and maybe about me too.

How far did I go to make my book… A great journey

I have posted about what made my novel to show my main elements for my fiction thriller, which are the characters, time, and location. But I had to do more than just figuring out what I want, because – let’s face it – I am no psychiatrist, I don’t have military, tactical, or espionage experiences, my dental experiences does not extend further to cover my medical knowledge… My story must be convincing, even though its fiction in all the meanings of the word.

I saw an interview with Hideo Kojima, a spy fiction story writer and game designer, he mentioned writing a ridiculous car chase scene as a kid, it was because he had never drove a car at the time. When he started to write his spy fiction stories (Metal Gear) he went and trained with the military. He gained the right knowledge needed for his work, which I must say, is one of a kind.

My character is two sides of the same coin, he’s a psychiatrist, and a soldier of fortune. I read two books about sign language, and one about the art of persuasion, to help giving the right dialogue to my main character and to help him in profiling people. It also helped me with writing about other characters emotionally. I read a book about old espionage stories (spy craft), it helped me a lot by giving me the basics, and through them, I developed some of my own tools for my novel which appeared believable and helpful for both the characters and the readers.

I have friends who are police men, they gave me a couple of information about names of weapons and a couple of pointers of some of the effects they have. I also had fun doing Aikido, a form of martial arts, where I learned a couple of wrist grips and some other movements, which I was therefor able to describe in my novel, making some scenes look genuine.

I went around to talk to physicians and pharmacists to gain some medical information required in my book, I have spent a lot of my time in the library searching for some of the books I mentioned, I went using a clay of my self and placed it inside my novel, like my knowledge in luxury watches, which I gained in my brief time as a sales man… and the long daily – eye boiling – times I spent looking at the screen on my computer, searching through the web whenever I stumble upon a hindering issue.

I did all that because I want to satisfy the readers, by making what’s fiction look genuine. Having a good base will help giving my readers a solid ground to stand on.

So as you can see, making my book was a rough journey, a journey I still go through everyday with my other books, and I love it.

I wish a safe journey for my book, and I hope it’ll make someone happy over there, for it certainly had made a lot of readers where I am feel that way.

You can visit my website below, it has a fresh zing now. So I hope you all have a little stroll into my mind, and if you are up to it, you can download a chapters sample as a souvenir.

Obsession… what does she do? And how far she will take you?

She is a woman to me, for it is the only way I can relate to how I am… I am obsessed with my ideas. I dream about them, but not too much because she won’t let me sleep. I feel happy when I describe her, I feel off when life gets in the way. She has never let me be, she is always with me. I always feel the need to write, but I am chained by my obligations, while all I really want is to share her story with the world.

We have those moments where we feel like we are fulfilling our destiny, even by doing a simple task… the sense of euphoria that surges within, god’s way to tell us that he is pleased with what we do. I sit in a lecture hall, and I get the feeling like someone is whispering into my ear, she reminds me that she’s here. She shines a light on a new idea, and I find my self treading on the thin line between the real and the unreal, where only my subconscious is awake, and my conscious is not aware of my reality.

How far will she go? Only I can tell by following her to the end…

Your ideas are your purpose, obsession is your guilt from being away from your purpose… make time for your ideas, or she will stop talking to you… once you lose her, you lose your purpose.

Be creative… be happy… be with purpose.
