Sooner Than Ever…

Hello everyone!!

Yes, it’s been too long now ever since I started pouring gas on that spark I called Iblis, the second book in my series, which can stand alone on its own. July was supposed to be the date, and guess what… it still is.

The second book in the Psychs series will be released in a blink now. So today, other than giving a shout out, I wanted to post some previous materials like the youtube videos I’ve posted and the book cover, just to refresh my blog and to give some new readers an idea about what is to come.

The beginning is nigh…

Hello everyone,

I have finally listed my upcoming book since the release is getting nearer. The book is in the process of being reviewed at the moment by Kirkus reviews, Fore Word Clarion and BlueInk review. Once that is done, positively if I may add, the book will be on its course for the big release.

Iblis (Arabic for Devil) is now present on Goodreads shelves, if your fingers are itching to add an upcoming book for your summer read, then scratch that index finger of yours right here.

Oh, and one more thing. If it manages to reach 1000 before the big release, I will reveal the first three chapters from the book, which will surely leave you wanting more 🙂

‘It begins!’

Hello everyone,

I have been eagerly waiting for this day for almost a year. Today I get to announce the great news.

Iblīs (book 2 in the Psychs series) is now in the first process of publishing. There are basically four:-
1- Editing and proof reading ; which is being carried now by my new editor in Chicago.
2- Reviews: my publisher, AuthorHouse, will send my book to three major reviewer establishments for pre-release reviews.
3- Designing: already have the great idea for that.
And…
4- THE release.

I am feeling more generous today, so I will share two more items from my agenda…
First: Iblīs is more story driven than Psychs; we met the characters in the first book, now, in addition of introducing new ones, Iblīs will be a big step and the spark to what is to come.
Second: I will share the prologue from the book through this link: Iblīs … It will give you a big hint to why the book is entitled Iblīs (Which is Arabic for Devil)

I am glad I have shared this great news with you all, my fingers are too tingly and eager to share more.

have a lovely weekend.

Friday 13th 2013

I intended to post this yesterday, but my energy bar was drained enough and my eyes were too strained to look at any screen. So I will say it today.

On Friday 13th, 2013, I finished my rewriting and my final read of my next thriller, Iblis… which, incidentally, means devil. I know, the omen was too eerie, I thought once I close the screen I would be slashed by Jason or Freddy.

I have once written that writers should always be flexible and resilient when it comes to writing their novels, they should leave their pride out of it. When you, the writer, or anyone else finds a flaw in your words or ideas you must do what’s necessary for the sake of the story, which is why I rewrote the book. The first draft was good, I got acknowledgement from two readers… but not from me. I went back through and decided to make the changes. I can finally say, that the story is now much better presented.

Iblis, the second book of the series, differs from the first book, Psychs, by being more story driven and taking place at a broader range. A sneak peak inside the upcoming book can be attained through a simple click here; it will carry you to the prologue where you will get to have a first read of Iblis.

Once the book is in the processing phase, I will announce more and more… I’ll even through  a video or two. Until then, enjoy your weekends.

Casting your characters

Every subject starts with a spark and some fellas with tanks of gasoline. True, sometimes the subject gets over heated, but it’s not necessarily the case when the topic is that interesting.

20130912-142527.jpg

I had a fun chat with a college friend of mine who had finished reading my novel, who was also one of the people who led me to become a writer. One fact about him is that 70% of his body is made of movies. So he threw this topic on the table, we began spinning the sticks and a fiery subject started…. We began casting for my novel. And here are the results for three of the main characters; Hassan, Adam goldfish and Elizabeth.

Hassan

20130912-142731.jpg

I got to say, I had a difficult time with the main character, Hassan. I couldn’t place an actor’s face on him because I based him on my old brother, who is also named Hassan. Since my friend didn’t have the same bond attached with Hassan, he came up with the proper actor for that roll.

Joe Manganiell got the looks alright, but I like mostly how he appears when he is older; Hassan will get old at some point in the story, and Manganiello Fits my image of old Hassan.

20130912-143216.jpg

Adam Goldfish (Shark)

20130912-143403.jpg

Adam Goldfish is a man who was imprisoned for 13 years and was in his quest to get back even with the one who caused him to lose those years… and much more. He is what a shark would look like if you placed a drop of blood in his tank.

20130912-143545.jpg

Speaking of blood, actor Alexander SkarsgardIs is an actor in True Blood, he plays a vampire, and I’d like to mention for reasons that will some day make sense in the future, that vampires… Well, they bite :).

Elizabeth

20130912-143646.jpg

Everyone emits vibes, and I am picking from Marsha Thompson an artistic aura that fits perfectly with Elizabeth, the first love affair for Hassan during his college life. She has the smile and the eyes, place a white spotted red scarf and hand her the paint brush and she’s good to go.

20130912-143816.jpg

We started casting the eight ghosts but then the conversation became more humorous and it swerved off course. If you want to add to the list of cast, you can give your opinion after learning a little about them through here.

(Meet Sara and Emma, Jack and Reed, Chow and Joseph, Rod and Mason)

I would like to say that casting your characters is a really energizing and beautiful process to get yourself involved in. I would recommend all the authors to get into it, especially with a reader who can help second your opinion.

Weekends are at the corner, guess what is waiting to surprise you?

I have recently flew on vacation a couple of days ago and as I was checking the bookstores available there I came across this…

20130807-113144.jpg

I was really glad even though (Physical bookstores wise and not online stores wise) my novel is only available in two bookstores where I live. Still, I like having my book next to Lee Child and Suzanne Collins
And it has also put me in the mood to announce that the next weekend will be the release of ‘Psych’s first’, a spinoff from my local Bestseller, Psychs, and it will be for free for everyone to read. Starting this week I will be building a launch pad for the next week release by introducing each character and spelling some of the important, spoilers free, details so you can have a better insight of Psychs.
Feel free to connect with my Facebook page and on my Twitter to learn more and get involved with the series. More news and updates to come.

It’s my birthday… So here’s my surprise

Today I pass again through the thresholds of the door that brought me to this world for the 28th time, maybe more if you believe in reincarnation. It was a day that I have been waiting for, not to be showered with gifts, but to share a surprise that I have been holding for far too long.
I have mentioned a surprise I have stored for you before, when I talked about Kima, my new inspirational novel. I mentioned it quickly so I can be discreet about it until the day I open the lid on it and spill it out for everyone; it was a Psychs related news, and it was not related to the second book, Iblis. So here’s a picture that says it all.

20130702-221531.jpg

Psychs 1st is a short story that follows Young Hassan, the U. S. military ghosts and the spirit of his mother to a trip to the United States.
After giving their lives to save Hassan’s while he was still in the womb, they became connected to his existence, well, only eight spirits did. That sacrifice gave him gifts, knowledge, protection and most importantly, a life… Or lives. So as a way to show them his gratitude, he decides to go to the United States of America to deliver messages to the ghosts families… But what he will find there could cause him his life, and the life of one of the ghosts family member.
Psychs 1st will be shared online here and on my other social network sites, for free. It is after all a gift from me to you.

Feel free to visit my website to learn more and to get involved.

Epic!!!

20130603-232149.jpg

I decided to take a look at my novel on goodreads and came across to this newly reader of mine.

As the writer of the novel, I feel overwhelmed… As a LOST fan (TV series) I feel mildly scared since he wrote that after reaching page 108!!!

Why did I decide to make a Q & A session this Saturday?

My dear followers and bloggers,

Last week I announced that on the 10th of November (This Saturday) I will be hosting a Q & A session as a way to stretch the knowledge of my novel and works to reach a wider audience.  But the truth is it’s more than that. The idea came to me long ago after I was invited for a book discussion with the Kuwaity Book club. It was a very productive process and you have no idea how fun it was, to be able to know more about the author and about your readers, firing questions about my book, about my life, about my current relationship, and I talked about how I was able to publish the book and what mistakes have I done along the way.

So, today I want to explain the purpose of the upcoming session to all the avid readers, the curios bloggers and to the fans who already read or still reading my book.

Here are the ten reasons why I decided to host a Q & A session:-

1- Get readers to know more about my fiction thriller.

The obvious is the first to be mentioned… readers would like to know what they are getting involved with before they start asking questions. That simple. I will talk about the book and mention more of it with everyone to help generate questions… after all, that is why I am doing the session.

2- To get to know the author by asking about his personal life.

I’m an avid reader myself, and what every reader share is the curiosity of the man or woman behind the work. Every time I read a book I always go through the biography. The more personal information I learn, the closer I feel to that person and his/her work. It’s a very good way to become connected with the readers and the authors, so it’s something I really look forward too in the session.

3- Share my publishing and marketing experiences.

If there is anything I wished for more often it would be to have someone to tell me what to do. You can never have enough routes to take when it comes to dealing with your writing, publication and marketing. And who knows, I may end up learning something new too, after all, we are here to share our experiences, and mine is only 1 year old.

4- What did I do and what obstacles did I encounter.

I mentioned that the paperback copy of my book became a bestseller in Kuwait, but what I didn’t mention was the biggest mistake I did with that old edition published in April, and most importantly, how did I flipped that into something good?

5- How did I start?

Every author had that moment where she/he realized that this is worth the effort. This Saturday I will share the story of what made me become confident enough to know that my art is something worth fighting for.

6- A chance to know my future in writing.

I write more than one genre, and I also believe that there’s no pure genre for a book because they have to be compatible with all readers if it wants to be held more often. I want to share the future works where I will talk about the second book in the series with my fans and readers and discuss my spiritual and inspirational novel which is based on an event that occurred in South  Africa in 1928.

7- A chance to learn what readers want.

An author’s greatest strength is knowing what the audience want. I hope I’d find out directly or indirectly through the questions.

8- Two major events are on the way.

I mentioned that there are two major and crucial reviews are coming on the way, the first is a Kirkus review which as I understand from my publisher would be during this month, the other is from CBC. I’m not sure honestly how well they will work out, but either way, I thought it should be important to make my book familiar before those two reviews are out, so readers would know that the reviews are aimed at the story they heard and asked about.

9- I have been away for too long.

I am in my last term in my university so most of my writing energy is being coursed somewhere else, so it would be nice to talk about the book, especially since I’ll be starting to write the third book in the series which I have not gave a title for… until last month, and you will get to learn the title’s name by Saturday.

10- This is the juicy one…

I plan to place the first 20 readers on my blog on a list, and when the time comes, those lucky 20 will get to be one of the people who own the first edition of ‘The Remnant’, the second book in Psychs series.

So I hope you’ll get excited enough to get involved with my series. We can sit down, have a cup of coffee while we chat in the comment box. You may like what you’ll learn.

To give you a little sip from my novel’s cup here is a pre-publication video of me talking about my thriller, I hope you’ll find it to be your cup of tea:-

Here’s my widget, you’ll find more information and an online sample chapter over there.

Thank you everyone and I hope to see you soon on Saturday.
