I was contacted by an educational Charity from Oxford called , The Iris Project, which promotes access to classics in UK state schools and their wider communities. They wanted to start a unique project for year eight students. The creation of a graphics novel based on ancient Greek primordial beings, Titans and Olympians, re-imagined as modern day characters living in Oxford.
They heard about The comic I am working on, The Epics of Enkidu, and asked if I can do a virtual video to talk about how I created a story based on a myth, with a nerudiverse character, and explain some fundamentals of writing and drawing a graphic novel.
I immediately said yes. I will share the video tomorrow.
I have been teasing by posting my comic art without posting a title. Well we won’t have to wait much longer. Today is the day. I have been working on the idea for two years, ever since I told my wife, my fiance back then then, about it and saw how excited she became when she experienced the story of the first volume. (Yes, that’s how we writers get things done). That day I became sure I was up to something good. I continued my story research and searched for a talented artist who can help me with half the work, and I found him. We kept the title and story a secret… but today will be the day.
We will soon unveil the mystery surrounding my project and will finally get to show what is the direction the story will take, but revealing the title, and what it means exactly. If you are curious, and I hope you all are, you can follow and see what will happen later today, when we reveal the Cover of the first issue, and on that cover, you will see the title, written in both English and Sumerian.
This is Happening tomorrow… Yes, finally. I have posted about my comic and keeping the title secret, because the character’s real identity is the best part about the story, and it will be revealed tomorrow Friday on the cover of the comic; both in English and Sumerian language.
The comic features a superhero with autism, a trait that is in fact a strength for Haythem, the main protagonist. But his powers are not just his lightning speed mind, which makes the whole world move slowly around him, but also because of a deep secret related to Mesopotamian legends that gave him his immeasurable power.
The inking art is done by a talented artist named Felix Torres, from Chile, who was inspired when I explained to him that this story was inspired by my nephew, who is an awesome kid with autism. Story and coloring by me.
It will mean a lot to us if you can support us when our Indiegogo campaign starts. Keep a lookout for this bad boy.
