Delta for Devil…

Name your book Iblis (Arabic for Devil) and you are bound to summon THE topic. So why have a name represented evil shared by many religions, cultures and folklores became the same name given to my second book? Let’s go through the high way to Delta and see what light can it shed on Alpha, Beta and Charlie.

First things first, here’s a two minutes and so video that I have created to tell the story of the first book, spoilers free. Through that short presentation we will learn that both our protagonists are at ease and have reached to a point where they can take a short breath. What will happen next is caused by human nature… but funny thing about humans’ is they are always influenced, driven without being aware.

“The Devil is in the details” a quote that is still unknown to who it should be credited to… which gives it a stronger impact. Our human nature governed – and sometimes manipulated – by our brains tends to relate and connect; trying to piece up jigsaws until a picture is formed. That picture can sometimes lead to our own destruction.

This is why today I am about to share another part from what is to come. In the first book of the series, Psychs, I have written this in the beginning.

“Good and Evil has no passport; it wears many skins, speaks in different tongues, and exists everywhere… even in the same person.”

What will be the next installment from the Psychs series brings? Well, that is only a scroll away.

The Alpha post for the reveal week…

This is the starting post toward the Omega; the day where I will be revealing thousands of words trapped inside an image that represents my upcoming novel, Iblis (Arabic for Devil)… and since Iblis is not the starting point for the series, I am to reveal the Alpha book, Psychs… the first novel that started it all and lead me here to important and life changing ideas.

Today was intended to be one of those everyday TV shows cliché of “Previously on Psychs Series” Kind of read… or that’s how it supposed to be… but instead… I decided to make a movie out of it, giving my words a little music and some images to amplify the experience. So here we go.

With the second novel at the threshold of becoming a new summer read, entitled ‘Iblis’, it is only right to create a short movie explaining the story so far. No spoilers alert… I chose my words wisely.

For those who found this video intriguing and decided to get more involved with the series, here’s a link from book finder of most of the bookstores where Psychs is only clicks away in both paperback and e-book formats.

Please let me know what you think, and please share with those who might want to find a new read this summer.

You can see that I have placed some effort on it… future director in the making 😉

Where was I..?

No, don’t wipe your screen, it’s not dusty, it’s just long lost, relic me. It has been a while since I last wrote on my blog, but now my intern year – which occupied most of my mortal time – is only twenty days from becoming a past experience. And I have the best comeback I could ever offer.

A quick update… I have been working in the clinics… yes, that part is true, a doctor… OK… a dentist… by day, and a writer by night. So here’s how my obscured life is… ‘Iblis’, the second book of the Psychs series, is back in production. I don’t want to delay it any more. The hunt for an agent is still on track, so until then, I am publishing my second book and hope it will get the same – and hopefully more – recognition from the readers and reviewers. And guess what… a book cover will be revealed, hopefully sooner than you can say ‘Really?’.

I’ll give you just a taste, a part from the first design which will be modified.

Book1 copy

More good news…. The third book is being written as we speak… I mean as we write… read… you get the picture.

The full picture will be shared soon, and I will be revealing more from Iblis (Arabic for Devil). I will post more of me stuff too of course, now that I have time to spare. Today I will go classic, just the way I like it, and watch an old movie. I am going to enjoy (Eye of the needle) A spy movie taking place in World War II, starring Donald Sutherland.

Enjoy your weekends.

Adam Goldfish incarnation…

That is correct… fate presented me with the exact (if not more) portrait of one of my own imaginary creation. Jessica Cox is a true testament of human’s strong will and power. Born with a congenital defect, she adapted herself to live her life without her arms by her side like an average person, yet, she became above average in all standards, having a driver’s license to drive a normal and unmodified car, she is the world’s first licensed pilot, she is also a certified scuba diver, and she has two black belts in taekwondo; with her own will, she grew her own arms, her own wings, her own gills, and her own… well, extra strong legs I’d say.

Adam Goldfish is a fictional character who sometimes I wished he was real, like my other character, Hassan. The former was imprisoned for thirteen years, and during those years, he lost both his arms and willed himself to keep going and adapt no matter what. He is someone I would like to meet, just like Jessica, the incarnation of my character.

Oh… and she has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology… so I’d say she has a little bit of Hassan in her too.

‘It begins!’

Hello everyone,

I have been eagerly waiting for this day for almost a year. Today I get to announce the great news.

Iblīs (book 2 in the Psychs series) is now in the first process of publishing. There are basically four:-
1- Editing and proof reading ; which is being carried now by my new editor in Chicago.
2- Reviews: my publisher, AuthorHouse, will send my book to three major reviewer establishments for pre-release reviews.
3- Designing: already have the great idea for that.
4- THE release.

I am feeling more generous today, so I will share two more items from my agenda…
First: Iblīs is more story driven than Psychs; we met the characters in the first book, now, in addition of introducing new ones, Iblīs will be a big step and the spark to what is to come.
Second: I will share the prologue from the book through this link: Iblīs … It will give you a big hint to why the book is entitled Iblīs (Which is Arabic for Devil)

I am glad I have shared this great news with you all, my fingers are too tingly and eager to share more.

have a lovely weekend.

Friday 13th 2013

I intended to post this yesterday, but my energy bar was drained enough and my eyes were too strained to look at any screen. So I will say it today.

On Friday 13th, 2013, I finished my rewriting and my final read of my next thriller, Iblis… which, incidentally, means devil. I know, the omen was too eerie, I thought once I close the screen I would be slashed by Jason or Freddy.

I have once written that writers should always be flexible and resilient when it comes to writing their novels, they should leave their pride out of it. When you, the writer, or anyone else finds a flaw in your words or ideas you must do what’s necessary for the sake of the story, which is why I rewrote the book. The first draft was good, I got acknowledgement from two readers… but not from me. I went back through and decided to make the changes. I can finally say, that the story is now much better presented.

Iblis, the second book of the series, differs from the first book, Psychs, by being more story driven and taking place at a broader range. A sneak peak inside the upcoming book can be attained through a simple click here; it will carry you to the prologue where you will get to have a first read of Iblis.

Once the book is in the processing phase, I will announce more and more… I’ll even through  a video or two. Until then, enjoy your weekends.

Casting your characters

Every subject starts with a spark and some fellas with tanks of gasoline. True, sometimes the subject gets over heated, but it’s not necessarily the case when the topic is that interesting.

I had a fun chat with a college friend of mine who had finished reading my novel, who was also one of the people who led me to become a writer. One fact about him is that 70% of his body is made of movies. So he threw this topic on the table, we began spinning the sticks and a fiery subject started…. We began casting for my novel. And here are the results for three of the main characters; Hassan, Adam goldfish and Elizabeth.

I got to say, I had a difficult time with the main character, Hassan. I couldn’t place an actor’s face on him because I based him on my old brother, who is also named Hassan. Since my friend didn’t have the same bond attached with Hassan, he came up with the proper actor for that roll.

Joe Manganiell got the looks alright, but I like mostly how he appears when he is older; Hassan will get old at some point in the story, and Manganiello Fits my image of old Hassan.

Adam Goldfish (Shark)

Adam Goldfish is a man who was imprisoned for 13 years and was in his quest to get back even with the one who caused him to lose those years… and much more. He is what a shark would look like if you placed a drop of blood in his tank.

Speaking of blood, actor Alexander SkarsgardIs is an actor in True Blood, he plays a vampire, and I’d like to mention for reasons that will some day make sense in the future, that vampires… Well, they bite :).

Everyone emits vibes, and I am picking from Marsha Thompson an artistic aura that fits perfectly with Elizabeth, the first love affair for Hassan during his college life. She has the smile and the eyes, place a white spotted red scarf and hand her the paint brush and she’s good to go.

We started casting the eight ghosts but then the conversation became more humorous and it swerved off course. If you want to add to the list of cast, you can give your opinion after learning a little about them through here.

(Meet Sara and Emma, Jack and Reed, Chow and Joseph, Rod and Mason)

I would like to say that casting your characters is a really energizing and beautiful process to get yourself involved in. I would recommend all the authors to get into it, especially with a reader who can help second your opinion.
